Add a warm-up, repeated main set, and cool-down to calculate total pool distance, number of lengths, and estimated swim time for meter or yard pools.
Total a pool set without hiding the arithmetic
Add warm-up, repeated main-set distance, and cool-down, then compare the total with the selected 25 m, 25 yd, or 50 m pool course. The time estimate uses swimming pace only and deliberately excludes rest.
Build the distance from three parts
Total distance equals warm-up plus repeat count multiplied by repeat distance plus cool-down. Any section may be zero, but the complete set must contain positive distance.
Repeat count must be a whole nonnegative number.
The pool-length result divides total distance by the selected course length.
A fractional length reveals that the entered set does not end at a wall for that course.
Distinguish pool course from display units
The selected course describes the actual pool: 25 meters, 25 yards, or 50 meters. The global metric/imperial setting changes how entered distances and totals are displayed; it does not silently turn a 25-yard pool into a 25-meter pool.
Treat estimated swim time as moving time
Estimated time multiplies total distance by the entered pace per 100. It excludes rest, equipment changes, instruction, and wall delays, so use the interval planner when elapsed send-off timing matters.
Frequently asked questions
How many lengths are in my swim set?
The calculator divides total physical distance by the selected pool-course length. Check the selected course before interpreting the result.
Why does the set show a fractional pool length?
One or more entered distances are not a whole multiple of the selected course. The fraction is kept visible instead of rounding the set to a wall.
Does estimated swim time include rest?
No. It is moving time at the entered pace. Use the Swim Interval Planner to include rest between repeated efforts.
