Hydration Bottle Planner

Turn your own hourly fluid target into total carried fluid and a practical bottle count.

Total Fluid

1800.0mL

Bottles Needed

3

Final Bottle Fill

300.0mL

Total fluid = duration × hourly target. Bottle count rounds up so the plan does not run short.

About Hydration Bottle Planner

Convert event duration, your chosen hourly fluid target, and bottle size into total fluid, the number of containers needed including a partial final bottle, and its final fill, with metric and fluid-ounce support.

Turn a chosen fluid rate into bottle logistics

Multiply event duration by the hourly fluid target you supply, then divide by bottle capacity to plan container count and final fill. The calculator organizes a chosen target; it does not prescribe one or recommend replacing 100% of measured sweat loss.

Choose the hourly target outside this calculator

The fluid-rate field is an athlete-supplied planning input. Environment, intensity, acclimation, access to aid, medical context, and individual tolerance can change an appropriate plan.

A sweat-rate test is one measurement reference, not an instruction to drink every measured milliliter. Repeated comparable tests and qualified guidance may be needed, and drinking enough to gain body mass should be avoided.

Audit the container arithmetic

Total fluid equals duration multiplied by the entered hourly target. Dividing total fluid by bottle capacity determines the required container count, which rounds up whenever the last bottle is only partly filled.

  • Duration × chosen hourly target = total planned fluid.
  • Bottle count includes the partially filled final bottle.
  • An exact multiple produces a completely full final bottle, not an empty one.

Compare the plan with course access

A carrying calculation does not know where refills, aid stations, special-needs bags, or bottle exchanges are available. Compare the container count with the organizer's current course information and equipment rules.

Switching between milliliters and fluid ounces changes display only. The stored physical volumes and resulting container count remain the same.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator determine how much I should drink per hour?

No. You supply the hourly fluid target. The calculator only converts that choice and event duration into total fluid and bottle logistics.

Should I enter 100% of my measured sweat rate?

Not automatically. Sweat rate is a session-specific measurement reference, not a universal replacement prescription. Avoid plans that cause body-mass gain and seek qualified guidance for individual medical needs.

Why does the bottle count round up?

The count represents every container needed, including a partially filled last bottle. If total fluid is an exact multiple of capacity, the final bottle is shown as full.
